Sometimes things turn out a little Better than we fear. Fear is the destroyer, the black hole Devouring the future. It’s hard to remember that, To not let the entire present get sucked Into that void, that gaping vacuum Pulling in field daisies dancing in a breeze, The quiet sound of night crickets chirping, The taste of coffee, of chocolate, of peace. Embrace everything good in this moment, Protect it from the spinning gyre Of all tomorrows imagined horrors. They might arrive, but until then, I hold fast to what makes today good.
